Membership

Why join Tower Lodge?

If you want to be part of a social and charitable organisation based on the principles mentioned above, then freemasonry is for you – and Tower Lodge No 5159 is a wonderful place to begin your Masonic Journey.

Membership is open to men over the age of eighteen from all backgrounds, regardless of their race, religion, sexual orientation or socio-economic position in society.

Tower Lodge has also been included in the Met GL Preferential Lodges Scheme.

Current Membership

The new membership system called “Portal” is a membership app designed to enhance the Masonic experience and is now up and running and highly recommended for all Masons to sign up.

A lot of work is still being done to help secure an active membership and a bright future for Tower Lodge in our 95th year. As always, the Lodge is busy working hard to help plan for our future, attract new members, engage our current membership more and retrieve inactive members.

Recent UGLE communications suggest that Tower Lodge is doing well in reversing any overall declines in Year on Year Masonic membership seen since the Pandemic and will continue to “do our bit” – by maintaining momentum on our commitment to build on our strong foundations and the pillars of Thriving Membership, Coherent Organisation and Community Engagement.

So how do you go about joining?

You may well know someone who is a mason – ideally a member of this Lodge. Speak with them, ask questions and if you are happy to proceed, request an application form.

Alternatively, you can contact our Membership Officer, W Bro Roy Wylie, via email at
or the Lodge Secretary, W Bro Gerald Alterman on .

Membership Welfare

There is an Officer in every Masonic Lodge called the Almoner.

His duty is to look after the welfare of the brethren and their dependants, providing guidance, assistance and signposting them to the appropriate support.

If you need support or become aware of a brother who may, please contact Tower Lodge’s Almoner, W.Bro. Gerald Alterman, as soon as possible via email at .

For more information on what support is available via the Metropolitan Grand Almoner’s Wellman-Connected Project, please scan the QR Code below or visit florencenightingale-thealmonerslodge.org.uk/Forms/Wellman-Connected-Information.pdf.
